On 12 January, the High Commission of South Africa partnered with the Opimian Wine Club and hosted a Wine-Tasting Reception and dinner at the Orange Art Gallery in Ottawa.
During the cocktail reception guests helped themselves to a variety of South African wines and at dinner Mr Nick Pentz, from Groote Post spoke at length about Groote Post wines. The High Commissioner, Her Excellency Sibongiseni Dlamini-Mntambo, used the opportunity to promote South African tourism accentuating that while South Africa is renowned for its consistent quality and novelty of its wines the country is also a playground for investors and a popular tourist destination.
South Africa has abundant tourist’s attractions – from the beaches in the coast, the mountains in the interior and savannas. South Africa is also known for its interesting and extensive history, with many museums and monuments to visit that showcases that. Her Excellency encouraged guests to visit South Africa not only for wine but to experience the culture, the people and the vibrancy that one can only get in a country “we sometimes affectionately refer to as “Mzansi”.
