Registration of South Africans Abroad - ROSA

The ROSA software is an on-line registration process available on the Department of Foreign Affairs’ web-site. The address is http://www.dfa.gov.za/consular/index.html

Click on the button and follow the easy steps.

The ROSA software is unique. The software allows for a traveler to:

  • register as an Individual Traveler;
  • register as Group Travelers;
  • register multiple destinations;
  • update their profiles (Individual or Group); and
  • de-register their profile from the system.

How can the Embassy or Consulate assist me while I am abroad?

The Chief Directorate: Consular Services in the Department of Foreign Affairs, in close collaboration with the Consular Sections of South African Representatives abroad, provides consular services to South African citizens who work, live and travel abroad.
Consular Services operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On weekends and after hours, assistance is rendered in co-operation with the Department's Operations Room in Pretoria. The Operations Room supports our 121 Representatives in 105 countries affording services that cover the entire world.

Information for alumnis of the University of Pretoria

The university is celebrating its centenary this year. One of its aims is to maintain and/or to make contact with alumni living overseas. Alumni are graduates of the university who form part of the convocation and thus completed a degree at UP. The purpose of this project is to keep alumni up to date with what is happening at their Alma Mater via free electronic newsletter and magazine (Die Tukkie). In future the University endeavors to organize regional functions and reunions overseas and would like to contact alumni representatives. Demarcation of areas for Consular Services:
South African Consulate-General in Toronto: (Click to go to Home Affairs Office under Consular Services link for contact details)
The Department of Home Affairs, South Africa established an office at the South African Consulate-General in Toronto. The office will handle all Immigration and Civic matters (Passports, Visas, Births, etc.) for the following provinces:
Ontario (excluding the greater Ottawa area), Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon and Northwest Territories.

South African High Commission in Ottawa:

The remaining Provinces for Consular Services will be handled by the South African High Commission in Ottawa.
Applications received from without these provinces may be returned.

Fees have to be paid in Canadian dollars only by money order or certified cheque  made payable to the South African High Commission. Personal cheques or payments in any other foreign currency will be returned.
